Days 5 & 6 - Sunday 10th July and Monday 11th July

Lake Kolkonjarvi. This is quite a big lake, and it's beautiful to swim in, with the water temperature around 24C.

We awoke to hot sunshine, so immediately jumped into the lake to cool off!

My Finnish colleague, Sari, and her family, who had been on holiday in Lapland, had promised to look in on their way south back home, and they arrived at lunchtime. I fired up the barbecue and we enjoyed some good sausages and salad together. Sari and Petri's boys, Alexsi and Alvar certainly enjoyed swimming with Sandy and Olivia!

Lunch in the barbeque hut!

With Sari and her husband Petri. Sari has taken part in a couple of projects with me.

Sandy playing outside the house.

Sandy with Sari's boys- Alvar and Alexsi.

Sandy playing with cousin Arnold!

With Baboushka!

On the jetty. What a fantastic place!

Relaxing!

Looking from the house to the barbeque hut and decking.

Olivia is happy!

Baboushka watches from the balcony.

This is a heavenly place.

Anna tries darts!

DFDS ferry

To get from Scotland to mainland Europe, we use the Danish ferry company, DFDS, who sail from Newcastle in England to Ijmuiden, close to Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Finnlines ferry

We will travel once again into Finland by using the excellent FinnLines ferry service from Travemunde in Germany.

Tallink Superfast ferry

Although we don't use this service, it's also possible to arrive in Finland from Germany by using the Tallink Superfast service from Rostock.
