We are waiting and anticipating...

This year will see our family travel once again, by car, from Scotland to the wonderful country of Finland, in north-eastern Europe.
The journey will see us take two ferries, the first one a DFDS ferry from Newcastle in England, to Ijmuiden close to Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Then we'll drive north-east into Germany and head for Travemunde on the Baltic coast, where we'll catch our second ferry to Helsinki, using the FinnLines service.
Once we arrive in Helsinki, we'll continue north-east, until we come to the beautiful lakeland district of Eastern Finland, where we will again stay close to the small town of Juva, in two different cottages.

DFDS ferry

To get from Scotland to mainland Europe, we use the Danish ferry company, DFDS, who sail from Newcastle in England to Ijmuiden, close to Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Finnlines ferry

We will travel once again into Finland by using the excellent FinnLines ferry service from Travemunde in Germany.

Tallink Superfast ferry

Although we don't use this service, it's also possible to arrive in Finland from Germany by using the Tallink Superfast service from Rostock.
